Light grading
Driveway maintenance and light grading — reshape washboard, fix surface drainage, spread road base and gravel so driveways and ranch roads stay usable.
Light excavation
Culvert work and related light digs — set or clear culverts so water moves and access stays open. Ask us what fits “light” scope for your site.
Cleanup and hauling
Haul off leftover trash and debris so the property looks and works better — yard piles, scrap, and general clutter. Standalone cleanup jobs are welcome; it does not have to come from our mowing or excavation.

Sage mowing research
We use published fuel-treatment research as framing — not a one-size prescription. Every ranch and parcel still needs a walk-through.

- Research mowing often targeted ~14–15 inches deck height (~35.6–38.1 cm).
- Roughly ~50% shrub cover reduction as a common treatment objective.
- Modeled flame lengths / fire intensity reduced; flame-length benefits can persist ~10 years in studied systems.
- Rate-of-spread reductions were large in year 1 (~71–75% in that work).
Local judgment matters
Related caution (Davies, Bates & Nafus 2012 and similar): mowing alone on sites with degraded herbaceous understories can favor exotic annuals and increase fine-fuel continuity.
NRCS / fuel-break practice notes often discuss mowing strips and retreat when regrowth exceeds roughly ~15 in — useful framing, not a substitute for an on-site look.
